Hep-Free Asia Summit

The Asian region is home to 11 of the 20 most heavily burdened countries with viral hepatitis and accounts for approximately 70% of global viral hepatitis-related deaths. This region stands out in terms of the need for an invigorated response towards elimination. (www.thelancet.com/gastrohep Vol 4 February 2019)

The Hep-Free Asia Summit will be held from 30 October to 1 November 2019 in Hong Kong to accelerate actions that help achieve elimination of viral hepatitis as a public health threat in Asia and the Pacific.

The Hep-Free Asia Summit aims to mobilize public and private resources, galvanize political will, and empower local communities and civil society to create a hepatitis-free Asia.
The Summit will be a unique platform to promote regional public health approaches, share lessons learned, showcase best practices and innovative solutions, and identify challenges, obstacles, and strategic gaps in achieving elimination goals.

The summit is initiated and funded by the Hep-Free Asia Summit project (in formation), with cornerstone funding from ZeShan (H.K.) Foundation, and additional donations from the Fund for Elimination of Viral Hepatitis (“EndHEP2030”).

The Hep-Free Asia Summit is guided by a Steering Committee and an Advisory Committee made up of thought-leaders, leading advocates, public health and hepatitis experts.
